Overview
Intended for use on crossovers, sedans, coupes, and SUVs, the Vredestein HiTrac All-Season tires provide confident traction, low noise, a comfortable ride, and superior handling on and off the road. Whether it’s summer, winter, spring, or fall, the HiTrac tires are versatile enough to deliver consistently satisfying performances.
Vredestein uses an all-season compound that offers high traction and is molded into the tread pattern with a dual-reinforcement system that uses performance-enhancing materials. It also has a tread block contour optimized to prevent noisy driving. The wide tread pattern makes for better steering stability and reduces uneven treadwear.
The HiTrac tires have 3D sipe technology that reinforces the high-performing traction in winter and rainy weather. The tires should last you for years to come, thanks to the polyester (2-ply) casing that reduces impact and allows for optimal comfort.
Vredestein HiTrac All Season Breakdown
Based on consumer reviews and road, braking, and durability tests conducted by industry experts, here are the conclusive results on various aspects of the HiTrac all-season tires.
Performance
The HiTrac tires were tested in several categories, including wet, dry, and wintry conditions. Our conclusions are based on these test results and users’ ratings from drivers that have put at least 10,000 miles on the tires.
Wet
The circumferential grooves on the tires help to disperse water upon contact with the road. This feature helps to prevent hydroplaning and allows for smooth steering through deep puddles of water and mud. Drivers mentioned being surprised at how composed the steering was even when driving up slippery hills.
Dry
These tires have larger central lugs with an asymmetric tread pattern, giving excellent traction on loose surfaces and dirt roads. Additionally, there wasn’t any shaking or smoking from the tires when drivers came to an abrupt stop on dry pavement.
Snow
The Hitrac tires offered modest levels of outright traction in the snow, though it is mostly acceptable for all-season tires. The steering in the snow was relatively responsive with decent grip in light snow.
Based on the team that conducted the road tests, they reported feeling as though the front axle was more easily overwhelmed in winter conditions than the rear axle; this caused obvious understeer. The deep snow and ice traction were also below average and could improve.
Braking Distance
Of the three tires, the Vredestein Hitrac All-Season tires were superior to the others with lateral traction and a braking distance that resulted in faster lap times in both wet and dry conditions.
This tire was more well-rounded in that it didn’t overperform in any metric but instead offered high results for handling traits and predictable braking on the test course. If the front end were a bit more responsive, it would have performed even better through the slalom timing. On wet roads, the braking distance from 50-0 mph is 106 feet, and on dry roads, 84.50 feet.
Handling
The handling with the HiTrac tires, especially on SUVs, is firm and stable, and the steering is precise. It naturally meters small steering inputs when the vehicle changes directions. After tight turns, the tires don’t return to the center easily, but it does offer mid-corner resistance.
The tires remained stable even at 80 miles per hour, meaning you have full control when traveling on the highways. These results were also consistent on wet roads.
Noise and Comfort
Noise comfort and the on-road ride are crucial metrics for touring drivers, and therefore the expectation for such a tire is very high. Fortunately, the Hirtrac All Season lived up to these lofty expectations thanks to a well-rounded combination of handling and luxury. The Hirtrac All-Season tire succeeded where many tires like it have failed.
Admittedly, this tire is not the most comfortable in terms of feel. However, the firm damping over impacts was well-controlled and concise, especially when traversing bumps and small cracks.
Durability
The compound for these high-traction all-season tires has a dual reinforcement system and has a symmetrical tread, all molded together with performance-enhancing materials.
The interior of the Hitrac All-Season is made of a two-ply polyester casing designed to damp out impacts on rugged and rough roads. The tire is outfitted with two steel belts with one polyamide reinforcement; this feature is implemented to promote high-speed stability and durability.
Warranty
The HiTrac All-Season tires come with an 8-year warranty from the time that the tire was produced. The warranty covers up to 70,000 miles; customers have yet to report any problems even when the tires have as many as 50,000 miles on them.
Limited, Prorated Lifetime Warranty: If the tire shows defective signs in terms of workmanship or materials, it will be replaced free of charge for the first 2/32 of an inch of treadwear. Once the tire is worn passed 2/32 of an inch, the tire will be replaced at a discount according to the amount of tread remaining on the tire.
During the first 1/32″ of treadwear, the out-of-round claims and tire vibration are covered. However, the warranties do not cover the costs of installation or shipping.
Price
The Vredestein HiTrac All-Season tires cost around $100 – $200 each, depending on the size you purchase. This is relatively affordable for a quality pair of tires that delivers a satisfactory performance with comfort and handling at the forefront. While they may not have beat the competition in all categories, the marginal differences weren’t overwhelming.
If you want a solid option for all-season tires that won’t cost too much and still offer you many of the same benefits as some of the more luxurious options, these are worth buying.
Recommendations
The Yokohama AVID GT tires ested well in both noise and ride characteristics; the test drivers remarked on the tires’ plush ride capabilities over the most rugged and rough roads, and it cost just $179 per tire.
Furthermore, the noise comfort of this tire narrowly outdid the competition when traveling over concrete which seamlessly faded into the background over roads that were a bit smoother.
The BF Goodrich Advantage Control tires are another excellent consideration. This tire tested relatively well compared to the others. The feel of the tire is great on smooth roads, which makes for a taut ride.
However, it was apparent, especially after testing the other tires, that the rugged portions of the road were noticeably rough. The BF Goodrich Advantage Control tire costs $106.99 to $229.99 per tire.
Conclusions
The Vredestein HiTrac All-Season tire is engineered to facilitate a pleasant ride for drivers by providing dependable traction in dry, wet, and light snow conditions and durable tread life.
The tire emphasizes comfort and quiet due to its tread block contours and pitch sequencing design. The tire operates comfortably and has great traction thanks to its all-season compound that produces grip for various road conditions.
Lastly, this is the most inexpensive tire of the three tires tested, and there is little to no drop-off in results. Even when compared to the Yokohama, which is more luxurious and excels in virtually every category, the HiTrac tires are a formidable opponent.
