Full review

This is a review of the Hankook Dynapro MT2.

We dug deep into reviews, specs, features, and ratings to determine if this tire performs as well as Hankook says it does. Our review is free of any bias and based on data from users.

Don’t have time to read everything? Here’s a quick summary of our review as well as pros & cons listed.

Hankook Dynapro MT2 Overview

Hankook Tire is the first Korean tire company to produce tires that match up to the biggest brands. The Hankook Dynapro MT2 is the upgraded version of the Hankook Dynapro MT and is said to be an extreme off-roading tire.

It has extended V-shaped shoulders to protect the sidewall and offer extra grip. The aggressive, wide tread design allows drivers to enjoy a quiet ride on the road and power through tough terrain.

The Dynapro MT lacked sidewall protection, but Hankook came out with the solution for that. The Wraparound Tread and Sidewall Protection Shields of the Dynapro MT2 provide a lethal combination of off-road traction and protection against sharp objects.

In this review, you’ll learn all about how well (or how poor) the Hankook Dynapro MT2 tires perform in all conditions. This review contains many features, price ranges, tire durability, and recommendations for better options.

What is this tire for?

Hankook is a tire company on the rise to produce high-quality tires that perform like no other.

This tire has the performance to push it towards the top of the list in Maximum Traction tires. Dry and wet performance is exceptional, but winter traction may need more work.

The Dynapro MT2 tire is an all-season, mud-terrain tire designed for SUVs, trucks, Jeeps, and other all-terrain vehicles that like to venture off the main roads. The tire has advanced technology and features built into it to provide maximum off-road traction without sacrificing comfort.

Performance

This tire is equipped with a Terrain Strike tread pattern, meaning it has a tread-to-shoulder design and deep tread for additional grip and durability.

If you’re keen to do a ton of off-roading, you’ll want a tire with exceptional grip and mud/dirt traction without sacrificing on-road comfort. Dry performance ratings for the Dynapro MT2 were high with most users giving them four or five stars.

One user reports that the off-road ability of these tires was excellent and didn’t cause any chips to the sides of the tires. Another user mentioned his excitement with how his tires allowed him to climb up muddy and rocky pits with ease.

Wet Performance

Safety on wet roads is important, and finding the right tire to keep you safe is just as crucial. The Hankook Dynapro contains sipes to increase the biting edges, which enhance wet traction, giving drivers a safer experience.

Reviews show that the tread design Hankook built into its tires paid off. Mud seems to be no issue for these tires, either. A few users say they have never gotten stuck in the mud with the Dynapro MT2s on their truck.

Winter Performance

The Hankook Dynapro MT2s have sipes to improve the wet and snow traction. But unlike other M+S tires, they do not have the snow-biting sipes specifically designed for winter conditions or the 3-peak mountain snowflake marking.

However, a few users noted that they drove in snowy conditions with these tires and reported good performance. They were satisfied with the handling of the tires and how they performed in lighter snow.

Handling

Most mud-terrain tires will be tested in conditions that are not super peaceful and smooth. But, this tire has positive reviews and ratings that say it provides a comfortable and smooth ride on major roads.

Users say that the tires have a bit of noise, but it rides fairly smoothly even on choppy surfaces. Many users label steering responsiveness, braking, and cornering as pros instead of cons. The tire produces a comfortable feel and efficient handling.

Noise and Comfort

One of the biggest complaints about this tire from the users was the painfully loud noise it generated on main roads. Off-roading tires are not known for being quiet and comfortable on major roads. To combat this, many tire companies seek to build a tire that combines comfort and off-road traction.

The Dynapro MT2 is built with a reinforced carcass and open tread pattern to reduce on-road noise and increase comfort. Some users report that the ride is very comfortable and that this tire is one of the quieter off-roading tires. One user says that the tire sounds like a regular on-road tire but others say the tire gets noisier the longer it’s driven.

Durability

There is no tread life warranty for this tire, only the Workmanship and Materials Warranty that extends to six years of life or until there is 2/32” wear. Despite not having a tread life warranty, the Hankook manufacturers use a newer technology to increase tread life.

The Reinforced Under-Tread Gauge and nylon reinforced belts give the tire increased belt durability to prevent external damage. Strong steel belts give the tire robustness to improve both steering and durability.

Despite the features promising increased durability, reviews show that the tread life could use a little work. A user reported the tires getting cuts and chips after only about 200 kilometers. However, other reviews showed that the tires can last over 30,000 miles.

Price

These tires are pretty expensive compared to other Maximum Traction tires like the Goodyear Wranglers or General Grabber x3 tires.

The mid-range price for one tire is around $300. The lowest reported price is around $180 and goes up to $600. However, reviews show that the heftier price is worth it.

The overall performance of these tires in all types of terrain is phenomenal despite mixed reports of tread life. The Dynapro MT2 is one of Hankook’s most aggressive tires and provides off-roading vehicles with the traction needed to get through any surface while getting the most out of tread life.

Recommendations

After our thorough review of all the ratings and comments made by users, we can safely recommend these well-performing mud-terrain tires. The Hankook Dynapro MT2 is a bit more expensive, but if you’re doing any off-roading then this tire is a great option.

Reviews back up Hankook’s claims about the tire having maximum mud traction. Users are satisfied with how well the tire performs on muddy terrain, rocky roads, and wet pavement.

However, other mud-terrain tires are cheaper and have better tread life than the Dynapro MT2.

If you’re looking for a cheaper option that is still high-quality, the BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 is a great option. It performs exceptionally well on any off-roading terrain and has a longer tread life. The lower price listed for this tire is around $164 which is much cheaper than the Dynapros.

Conclusions

The Hankook Dynapro MT2 is a stellar off-roading tire that tackles mud, dirt, and rain with ease. It is one of the sturdiest tires on the market even though it is priced pretty high. The only downside to this tire is its on-road noise and questionable tread life.

We recommend this tire for any off-roading vehicle that likes to enjoy frequent adventures on rough terrain. The on-road performance and comfort are also rated highly by some users so it shouldn’t be a problem for most vehicles that drive on highways and city roads.

The Dynapro MT2 tires have more features than other tires in the Hankook family. This tire is a great option due to its better tread design, durable steel belts, sidewall protection, and stone ejectors that give vehicles maximum traction, style, and comfort.
