Full review

This review covers the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady tires and tells you everything you should know when considering these all-season tires.

After researching manufacturer stats, safety tests, and real users that have used these tires, we’ve compiled a wide variety of data and opinions on the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady tires  – and here’s what you should know.

Don’t have time to read everything? Here’s a quick summary of our review as well as pros & cons listed.

Using the research and customer reviews we’ve compiled from several sources, we’ve come to the conclusion that these tires have great wet (and dry) traction with an overall outstanding performance. These could potentially be one of the best all-season tires on the market this year  – so, keep reading to learn how we reached this verdict.

Overview

Before we take a deep dive into the statistics, here’s what Goodyear promises with their WeatherReady tires and who this product may be best suited for.

What Is the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady Tire For?

If there’s one thing that Goodyear promises you’ll get out of their Assurance WeatherReady tires, it’s good all-weather traction. With soybean oil added to the rubber compound of the tire, this ensures you get better traction while you’re driving in snowy or freezing conditions.

For this reason, it’s no surprise that these tires have earned the Severe Snow Certification, which means that they have been tested in the snow and met the criteria for performing well in these conditions.

In general, Goodyear has positioned itself as one of the most reputable tire manufacturers in the country, and they’re known for one thing: durability  – and the Assurance WeatherReady tires do not disappoint in this category.

Like any other Goodyear tire, you can also expect to get three different warranties with these tires: one that protects you in case of premature tread wear, a warranty for free tire replacement under certain circumstances, and a 30-day back guarantee if you decide you’re not satisfied with your WeatherReady tires.

While having a little extra traction is never a bad thing, these tires are definitely well-suited for vehicles and people that live in snowy, icy, or cold conditions.

Is the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady Tire Good?

As mentioned before, Goodyear places a lot of emphasis on making sure their tires are durable, and that includes their Assurance WeatherReady tires too. On Goodyear’s own website, users rated this tire 4.7 stars out of 5, and those who tried the tires in wet or snowy conditions found that the tread still gripped the road well.

While there were a few complaints about how the large tires seemed to decrease fuel economy, most users were still overwhelmingly happy with the traction and the durability  – even after putting thousands of miles on the tires, many users still didn’t see any significant wear and tear.

Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady Tires: Breaking It Down

While most people find that the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady tires seem to excel as far as all-season traction and durability goes, here’s a closer look at how well they perform and handle in your vehicle.

Performance

While users have rated the Assurance WeatherReady tires over a 9 out of 10 when it comes to dry traction, the biggest selling point of these tires still might have to be their wet traction. According to some customers, the wet traction is even better than competitors, and there’s less concern about hydroplaning or slipping when you’re driving in heavy rain.

The snow and ice traction has also been a pleasant surprise for many users, and these tires hold up just as well  – if not more  – than many other all-season tires on the market.

According to tests from TireRack, these tires have good traction in light snow conditions, although they might need a little improvement in the wet grip.

Handling

The tests run by TireRack showed the Assurance WeatherReady tires had good handling and steering in rainy and light snow conditions, although it wasn’t tested in heavy snow or ice.

Some users did find that the tires needed a little while to “break in” when it comes to handling, but once you had a couple of hundred or even 1,000 miles on them, they handled even more comfortably.

Noise and Comfort

Winter tires can have a reputation for being a little noisy or uncomfortable to drive with, but according to several users, that’s not the case with these Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady tires. Some people have claimed that these are some of the quietest tires they’ve ever used in the winter or in the snow, but others did find that they tended to be a little noisier when driven with dry traction.

Driving at high speeds or in warm, hot conditions where the tires need to use dry traction seems to make them a little noisier. As far as comfort goes, users rated these tires over an eight out of ten, and generally found the ride to be smooth, quiet, and comfortable on the road.

Durability

Durability is a huge factor for any tire, but especially for a manufacturer like Goodyear, which prides itself on producing high-quality, durable tires. Fortunately, most users didn’t seem to notice any kind of wear and tear or degradation until they’d driven over 20,000 miles on their WeatherReady tires.

Even at over 35,000 miles, some users have still only noticed mild or minimal wear on their tires, and the tread has continued to hold up throughout every season.

As mentioned previously, Goodyear does include a couple of warranties when your purchase these tires, including one that guarantees the tread for 60,000 miles. If you notice any premature tread wear before you hit that 60,000 mile mark, you can always take advantage of that warranty.

Price

Compared to other all-season tires and even some winter tires, these Assurance WeatherReady tires are pretty appropriately-priced, especially since they guarantee the tread life up to the first 60,000 miles. For the price, many users find that they’re a durable pick worth the quality.

Recommendations

For the price, many customers have been extremely happy with their Assurance WeatherReady tires, and out of 57 different tires, Tire Rack ranked this product within the top 10 for all-season tires. Some other high-rated options, like the Michelin CrossClimate2 tires, also rank extremely well for wet and snow traction but have a little bit of a higher price tag.

Another alternative, the Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack tires, can be a budget option that still comes with plenty of great wet and dry traction.

Conclusion: Final Word on Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady Tires

If you’re looking for all-season tires that can perform well in any season and have excellent tread, the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady tires are a great pick. They may not be the cheapest tires on the market, but their durability, quiet ride, and great traction in the snow make the price tag worth it  – although if you’re worried about the price, there are always budget options like the Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack tires.
